Woke up quite early on the race day at 3 AM, eventhough flag off at 5 AM but we have to go to the starting line at 4 AM due to road closure for the Full Marathon runners. I took my time getting ready, drink my coffee and took my power gels as fuel for the run. Exactly at 4 AM, we ride to the stadium and only managed to reach there less than 20 minutes later (even on Motorcycle and I couldn’t imagine how long it took for the car).
B dropped me off exactly at the starting line so I don’t need to walk far before he headed back home and continue sleeping. I also did more than 10 minutes warm up by joining the zumba session by Gym Juara before I went to the toilet. I was actually feel great that morning and I love that I can feel all the other runners excitements and their nervousness before the run!The 1st 5 to 8 KM was fun as I was enjoying the run and I meet a lots of runners along the way. However, as the distance approaching 10KM inside the UMS route, I almost fell down when I ran over the marker (or a huge banner stand) at the water station and my legs started to cramps all the way up until my hips. No matter how many times I tried to pace myself up afterward, the cramps keep coming and threatening to stop me from running and walking!
Of course I was frustrated and blaming my lack of preparation because I didn’t even bring any saltstick pft. BUT I gotta do what I’ve got to do i.e dragged my legs until the finishing line. Despite the major cramping incidents, I truly enjoyed running my 3rd BIM. Hopefully my knee will soon heal and I can get back on training for a longer distance run.
