Self-Care Sunday: Manicure Session with Maniqure Nail Salon

Welcome to Self-Care Sunday series volume 01. I’m very excited for this first post of SCS series as I will be sharing about my recent manicure session. In case you did not know me that well then it’s wise for me to add an extra disclaimer here. I love to beautify my nails and you hardly seen me without painted nail (hello, favorite nail polish!). Nothing like a beautifully shape and nail color that can boost up my confident level. So, I finally treated myself and had an amazing manicure session with the famous and widely known Maniqure Nail Salon Kota Kinabalu.

How to get there?

Maniqure’s Nail Salon is very easy to find. If you are not familiar with the area, you can go to their Instagram and get a direction from there. Or if you are not a fan of driving as it’s quite hard to find parking there especially during weekend, you can opt for Uber and Grab. Their vibrant signboard can be easily spotted from the road. Then you can take the stair to go upstairs which will lead to their beautiful salon.

First Impression

Upon arriving at their front door, you have to take off your shoe before you can enter. I love how the nail salon are OMG so pretty and cozy at the same time! The place was decorated for the upcoming Chinese New Year and I really adore their puppy toy on the counter. I really don’t mind spending my whole day in this beautiful place and extra cozy environment.

The Service

My appointment was on 11.30 AM and I arrived (thankfully) timely. I was seated and waiting for my manicurist to be done with her earlier client. Plus, I am not rushing so I did not mind waiting for a little while. I have to say this though, it’s amaze me how everyone especially the Maniqure’s staffs are very soft spoken. After waiting for a while, I was finally call and ask to go the manicure’s area. They also serve their customer with the most Instagram-worthy-Tea and wet towel.

The Nail Design

Honestly, I had a hard time choosing the nail design that I want this time. I went through hundred of Pinterest inspiration and Instagram to finally settle with this design. Since year of Dog supposedly bring good luck to us; the Earth Snake, I opted for nude-brown and black color with gold pieces to enhance my “ong”. I was actually leaning toward red and gold for CNY but it was not my lucky color for the year. Anyway, I did send a few photos to Maniqure earlier to check their price for certain complicated design. I do find that their pricing for gel nail art is very affordable especially those nail art that required certain skills.

The Process

So, my manicurist begin with removing my previous gel nail. Apparently it’s quite hassle to remove it and took a longer time compare to the usual nail polish. She was so soft-spoken and ask me if its hurt or getting uncomfortably hot while she was buffing the old gel away. Of course with her gentle handling, I didn’t feel uncomfortable at all. Once the old gel was removed, I request her to cut my nail a little bit shorter but maintain the oval shape since it’s suitable for my chubby and short fingers. Afterward, she begin doing her “magic” on my ugly-yellowish nails. We have a little bit of chats on what we want for Valentine’s day and goes “aww” over few clients that came with their partner.

The Final Result

After buff here and there. Paint, re-arrange the gold pieces and in out of the UV light machine. More than 40 minutes later, my nails are done! The final result is amazing and my nails are so beautiful. I can’t stop and keep looking at it. My manicurist did an awesome job. Not even once I heard her sigh because of the complicated arrangement of the superb tiny gold pieces. I really love it! I can’t express how happy I am with the outcome. She did all even to the smallest details and I’m so satisfied with everything.

Last but not least,

I’m extremely glad that I was able to spend my Sunday off with pampering myself to a manicure session. With tons of things that I need to do and time that I need to spend ever-so-wisely, I’m happy that I managed to give more than 1 hour and half just focusing on myself. Its boost my self-confidence and lifted my spirit up. Definitely will be back to Maniqure for more pampering sessions soon. Perhaps I will go with the full manicure and pedicure session this time. I hope everyone had an awesome weekend and stay in love with yourselves xo

Maniqure has always have nice outcome. But I still haven’t go there. 1, coz I have little care for my nails, 2, I bite my nails occasionally, 3, growing my nails is the hardest thing to do ?. Maybe one of these days when I feel like pampering myself.

On another note, how’s the pricing like? I’ve seem the pricelist but not too sure how much issit design by request.
